KEY INGREDIENTS:
Cumin
Cumin has an earthy and fragrant aroma that makes it a culinary staple in Indian cuisine. From an herbal perspective, cumin not only tastes delicious but is also balancing to all 3 doshas. It can help improve digestion thanks to its ability to absorb and assimilate nutrients from food and it can also stimulate agni (digestive fire), improve lymphatic drainage and dispel gas.
Coriander
With similar actions to cumin, coriander is considered a tridoshic herb, meaning it is beneficial for vata, pitta and/or kapha constitutions to consume. It increases digestion and absorption but does not aggravate the fire contained within pitta dosha. In fact, coriander has been cited in Ayurvedic medicine as helping to reduce acidity in the digestive tract as well as soothe inflammation.
Fennel
Noted in Ayurvedic medicine as one of the best herbs for maintaining healthy digestion, fennel is also considered a tridoshic herb. It has been revered as an excellent remedy for dispelling flatulence, reducing intestinal cramping, moving the lymph and strengthening agni.
